Default CBR600RR or CBR 1000RR?

Hi,

I am new to this forum, want some advice to help me decide on my new bike. I can't seem to make up my mind between 600rr and 1000rr. I've got riding experience on a Honda 250 for more than 5 years, I have never ridden a 600cc or a litre bike. I understand it all comes down to rider prefrences but is CBR1000RR too powerful and too much to handle at this stage? what is difference in terms of fuel comsumption and maintainance between these two? I'm 25 so I dont think I will have much problem with the insurance. I love the fireblade in black colour which is not available for 600RR (in UK). I am more inclined towards getting a fireblade, what do you guys suggest?

any advice is more than appreciated.
Cheers,
Sohaib.

See if you can test ride both from a dealer, may be hard to do.

Other than that, go for what appeals to you the most. Of course the 600 will have better gas mileage, is a lighter bike to handle, and will have cheaper insurance. On the flip side, the 1000 is not an "out of control" beast the way some may think. It is my first and only bike with no prior riding experience other than the Motorcycle Safety Course. It is very stable and can be easy to ride (IMO) depending upon what you are looking to do. To me, the throttle is not "overly" sensitive. But then again, I really did not have anything else to compare it to or have to readjust what I was used to.

The 2007 600 has been redesigned and it looks really nice. I think you will adjust to and be happy with either one. Be Safe.

I love my 1000, but I also love the 600. I usually go out with my wife... a liter machine was better suited for that. You can't go wrong with a 6 or 1K. Both will give you an incredible rush! Happy Shopping!

Have been on this forum for a while now, but I usually try to stay out of some of these post because I think alot of people on here are very subjective in the advice that they give to new riders; just because one person was not mature enough to handle a bigger bike doesn't mean that this should apply to everyone. I have been riding for 14 yrs and started on an 1100cc bike and never had a problem, and yes I know that doesn't mean that everyone can do the same. But I think maturity is the key: are you mature enough to respect which ever bike you decide to buy and ride within your own riding ability and not the capability of the bike. ANY BIKE CAN AND WILL KILL YOU IF YOU'RE RECKLESS. Buy something your going to be happy with, but be very carefull as a new rider take it slow and ride within your own abilities. In time you will get more relax and confortable; the more you ride the more experience you will have and the better you will become. BE SAFE AND GOOD LUCK.

I do agree with simeonroudy, maturity level does make a big difference. Going from a 250 to a 1000 is a huge jump. If I were you I'd go with a 600RR for now but its up to your and your abilities. Good Luck

i totaly agree with simeonroudy its all about bieng mature and respect.. cuz any bike have a lot of power ande it will rush when u want it to rush. but the 1000 rr has a lot of power .... im new to this thread and im new to riding bike in particular( ive been only riding since 2 months and ive never ride a bike b4 in my life) and my first bike is the 1000 rr 06 to tell u the truth i love it and im happy that i got it ..cuz i was suppose to to get the 600 rr but didnt find any at the dealer so i ended up with the 1000rr
i know that my 2 cents knowledge about the bike doesnt make any diffrence to u guys but i think u should go with the 1000 as long as u trust ur driving skills.

I would go with the 600RR. I owned a 1000RR until it got stolen....(Already put my money down on an '07 1000RR) and there is a big difference, especially with Honda ESD (Electronic Streering Dampener) My first taste was jumping off a 1996 CBR 600F3, and climbing on to a 2003 CBR 600RR (stupidly pulling the throttle back in second gear)....big difference, big jolt....big no, no. The RR had so much more power, I couldn't beleive the difference. Going from a 250 to a 600RR should be your measuring stick. Jumping from a 250 to a bike that puts down 150HP to the rear-wheel (1000RR) is a disaster waiting to happen. Try the 600, once you're used to the power and handling, go to the 1000.

Good luck!!!

ok hear goes,
imo and only imo eather the 600rr or the 1000rr will get you hurt bad in the worst way if you do not respect them. this thread has been discussed more then anything else on this forum from the first time i joined. i have stated my opinion several times i have been riding for some 35 years plus. yes i am in my 50s but i still love to ride. the 600 has to have high rpms to develope its power the 1000 does not. now what does that mean with the 600 you will be turning 10 grand and above to use its 110 hp the 1000 4 grand and above to use it 150 hp +. for lower speeds the 1000 developes more tourqe at bottom end but on top end it is some 30 mph faster from 0 to 60 it is faster from 60 to 100 it is faster from 100 to 150 it is faster with that being said the 1000 is quicker faster and way more power ful. but the 600 by no means is no slouch i have had them both. they have their own little world that they perform better in ( but they are not a starter bike ) i do not mean to be an aSSSSS about this but thust me sonner or later and most of the time it is sooner then it is later you will want to see just what these bikes will do and if you are not ready for the speed that you will encounter you may be in over your head. some of the best riders that i have known have found their selves in this very same problem that i am speaking of. i owned my 2003 600rr for 2 years i never knew the top end of that bike and i probley will never no the top end of my 1000 rr . all i have to do is go to uponone.com and i can see all the speed i need to/ just my 2s worth have fun be safe.
