The new R1 was dyno'd at 156 hp at the wheel. My '05 RR dyno'd at 154.5. Not a huge difference, not to mention the R1 is the heavy weight of the group this year. I finally got the chance to ride the new R1 today, and its low-end still sucks. I'll take my RR over it any day of the week.

i wasalso leaning on this two bikes before i even picked one two weeks ago. and decided to get the R1,,headlights are bright at nigth dual is better thansingle u dont need to use higbeam on cbr. both of them underseat exhaust but R1 has dual and clean lookin than a single pipe cbr. the swingarm on R1 is balance on both sides and curve aggressively. i give cbr for comfort seat, but on curving canyon and race track ill ride the R1 so i can easily hang and shift my weightat front . in terms of look i just couldnt get enought, especially in yellow,,,yaah the R1!!!.....maybe the repsol too! but i hope they paint the swingarm flat black,,,as well....and yah i got the look of other motorists,,,,so sweeeeet

Have you actually rode both? The R1, atleast in my opinion, as no bottom end. The 1000RR has a great mid range and top end. The 1000rr beats it hands down. I don't buy my bikes off simply off its looks.

Too bad for 06 and 07 the gsxr 1000 and kawi are the b***h bikes of the year. The R1 Cbr 1000 and Ducati are the ones taking the track by storm. For me the Cbr 1000 was a better choice.. cheaper, better looking, best fit, more comfortable, and by god RELIABLE!

To me, it defintiley dpends on the rider and the type of riding. How many people are really racing to push these bikes to their limits?

I bought theCBR 1000 last year based on looks and the low end torque. If I were buying this year, I might have looked at the R1. But I am just causually riding, I haven't reallybeen over 100 mph, don't care to,don't need to and don't really have a place to. So to say the least, I am probably using 20% of the bikes total capacity...so A CBR 1000 , R1, or maybe a 600 class bike would have done well for me. But I like my CBR 1000 just the same.

My friends are still buying magazines, doing internet searches etc. to find out which bike is better = faster.I know these guys will never hit over 80/90 mph for any long stretch of time to take advantage of the high performance characteristics of any bike. If your not racing, timing, or at a track,...does the horsepower / speed make "that much" of a difference?

If your buyin a bike for top speed then your buying got the wrong reason. most bikes have a cut off at 187 mph. I dont kno too many guys who cruise around at 187 or even around that. The guys who buy bikes for top speed usually do so for parking lot conversation. Those are the "look what I got guys" also known as the "look what this magazine said my bike can do guys"

that was occasionally true of what youve said..neverthless performance wise with this bikes are just millimeter a second, 5/10th, or maybe 1 or 2 sec. really not a big deal, if guy wants to race buy real race bike....the truth is this are all nice super street bikes, ok so 'can we all get a long' , no matter what bike we ride....see u on streets ,freeway, canyon's and maybe on a race track......
indeed freedom of speech is what we become one.
god speed and calmdown, life has its end, dont make it short.....

Its all about the feel and the handling of the bike and the rider, i rode the canyons on my 06 600rr with my buddy and hehad a fixed up gsxr750 that could take 06 r1's and he was behind me thewhole way in the mountains, so power doesnt mean more than skill, in my opinion,I went to buy a 1000 last week when he boughthis gsxr 1000 and looked at all the bikes and still went with the CBR1000 rr just cause of the feel, the other bikes just dont feel right. That and they had the Repsol. But its all aboutbeing comfortable on the bike. Unless you want to be an idiot and drag on the freeway at 180, then you need power.

Like it was stated eairler. NOT UNLESS YOU ARE A PROFESSIONAL you will never use the CBR or the R1 to it fullest potiential. So basically you are going on which one you like better as far as body style. If it was apples and oranges I could see your point to y'all are talking green apples vrs red apples[&:]
