40,000 mile service
 

So I just did the 40,000 mile service on my 2008 CBR1000rr. Everything went well and all looked good. Exhaust valves needed adjustment and changed the plugs while I was there. Also did the intake mod to get rid of the flapper doors. Took some pictures if anyones interested.

Looks good! I'm doing mine on my 06 this winter. Just bought it with 37K on it...hopefully all turns out well as yours did

Looks like a way to become closer to your bike. I also have an 08 1000RR. I'm hoping to be able to hold off until this winter for its 16,000 mile valve check/adjustment and possible spark plug change. Currently has around 14,500 miles.

Like you, I'll be doing my own work. I don't trust dealerships to do it correctly.

Ya you can definatly hold off, that was mines first valve service at 40k lol. I did the plugs at 20k but did not see the need for the valve service. I would strongly recommend two things for anyone else that doesn't trust the yahoos at Honda and wants to do their own service. 1 get that cam chain tool from Honda, they put the tensioner in such a bad spot nothing else will get in there except that dinky cheap tool. 2 don't take the cam out even if your having to make an adjustment. I zip tied the chain to the intake cam sprocket so it would keep time, and all I did was rotate the camshaft out of the way and you can get to all the shims and buckets. It gets a little hard the closer you get to the chain side because the chain is still on the the camshaft but getting them out is wayyyy worse. Besides the fact you don't have to worry about having the timing correct since you didn't take the cams out. Just a little piece of advice :)
