2012-16 parts on a 2011?
Good evening, folks
Back in April of last year, I got in a bit of a gnarly crash. As a result, I've got issues with the front end of my 2011 Fireblade, specifically with the forks and radiator The radiator is an easy fix (I hope), but the forks are giving me pause. And I've had an idea regarding them: Replacing the forks with the Showas off a 2012-16 model Now, there are two versions of this plan: Replace the whole front end (triple clamp, starter switch, etc.), or replace only the forks and use the 2011 triple clamp and other controls The problem I'm having is this: I have no idea whether this is doable in terms of compatibility. I've got a 2014 in the stable. The Showas measure 50mm at the triple-clamp
If the forks are the same diameter it should be relatively straightforward. If not, you'd probably want to take the triple-clamp, handlebars, and switches The brake calipers are the same part number, as well as the axle, so those parts should fit (no need to swap wheel) Switches should be fine so long as the handlebar is the same diameter but they're not a big-ticket item anyway. Probably $40-50 for new OEM |
It looks like from '04-'16 upper tubes are the same size, they also take the same triple clamp bearings. I'd say interchangeable.
