2007 CBr1000rr vs. 2012 CBR1000rr

New to this forum but have owned a total of 5 Honda's (currently own 2) Im looking to off load all of my 4 bikes and either buy a 2007 CBr1000rr or a 2012 CBR1000RR. I love the look of the 07 cbr1000rr (grey/blk) but the 2012 (aside from being new), has many nice upgrades. Although I've read/heard that the 07 has problems with the stator/rectifier (08-09 WITH OIL CONSUMPTION) Im kinda hesitant to venture into $18,300.00 (CND) for a 2012 with the possibility of one or both issues. Just want to see what ya'all have to say. Any input/comments would be great thx.

08 has the oil burning too quickly issue. I have a nine and good to go...

Hands dwn go get the 12. I would, that is a very bad ass bike....upgraded suspension and wheels alone gets me salivating....

'12 all the way. Been looking at one myself.

I'm VERY pleased to update everyone that checked out/commented on my post, that it took less then 10 sec to say consider it sold. I'm now after the Very proud owner of a Blk/silver 2007 Cbr1000RR. :D This bike (that I just bought) has 5990Km's and is in immaculate condition. Luckly for me I think the guy is a lil OCD when it comes to keeping things in top shape and took extra measures to make sure they stay that way. It took a lot of "humming and hawing" on 2007 or 2012, (aside from the $12,000.00 difference) it took ALL things considered to go with the 2007. If I did not find THIS 07 at this exact time, (carma) I would have gone with the 2012. I like all sport bikes in general, but personally I think the 07 stands out amongst all bikes all years. Which is tuff to say the least because Ive owned a 2000 ZX6 and ZX9 (which I currently still own the 9r) and think Kawi did an amazing job on them, But overall I think the 2007 CBR1000rr has an edge over them. IMO. Will post pictures when I pick it up. Did I mention I just bought a SWEET bike? lol :D

Even though the two replies you received said to go with the '12 you still bought an '07? The difference between an 07 and an 08+ is night and day handling wise and performance wise.

Not that there's anything wrong with the older style but if you'd ridden both of them there wouldn't have been any question as to which one you would have wanted, aside from the cost difference.

You had TWO replies saying git the 12', but you obviously read my mind! :icon_toast:

23,000 trouble-free miles on mine and still runs great!
Sure the 12 is a better bike, but now look at all the extra money you have to make yours even better.
I, like you, went with "Looks" over performance. But in 07', it was at the top of the pack in reviews as far as "Street riding characteristics". Plus it faired well on the track even without a slipper-clutch.

Congrats!

i look at it the same way as you (im currently looking to buy an 06-07 1000rr), granted the 08+ bikes do have an absolute edge with tons of improvements over the previous generation, i cannot get over the fact that they're butt ugly compared to the 06-07's

I guess everyone is entitled to their own opinion. Not only does the 08+ outperform previous generation 1000RRs in every category I like the sleek, modern look of them. The undertail exhaust of the old ones reminds me of a loaded diaper.

I have an 04 which I love......the 06/07 got a bit better with the handling

The 08 handled even better but ate motors and oil.

The newer ones I'm sure got even better but I couldn't answer to that, either way you bought a good bike and will be happy with it.

now post some pics and show us what you got !!!

I have an 09 repsol with 23,000 miles. doesn't burn a drop of oil. the valves hadn't been checked since new when I bought it with 18,000k in it this year. checked all of the clearances and not a single thing was out of spec. let my friend (had an 06) ride my 09 and he went and bought a 12 the next week.
