Default 2006 Honda cbr 1000 battery wont keep charge

I have a 2006 CBR1000 rr with only 480 miles on it, got it brand new in Nov o6. I have to charge my battery every other month because it dies, warranty is gone. Will honda cover this becase its a known problem?

Rich if it is the battery you will be on your own. You may want to check your stator also though, i believe there is a recall on that, so it would be covered if thats why your battery is running down. I may be wrong, if so someone should tell me shortly.

480 miles in almost 2 years could be the culprit. If your bike sits for long periods of time, you might want to invest in a battery tender. Of course you could ride more often too. Short rides of only a few miles aren't enough to keep the battery charged. Charging systems on bikes aren't the greatest, and they have lots of other things to power as well ie; headlights, coils, ECU, stuff like that.

like others have said if its the battery then no it wouldnt be covered. now if the issue is due to the result of a recall then honda should honor that without a problem. keeping your battery charged when not in use will help it from draining during periods of long inactivity also if you arent riding that much you should also invest in some pitbull stands and keep the bike up so that the tires dont get flat spots.... or just get out and ride more

There are only two recalls for the 2006 1KRR. The fuel system, and wrong information for NHTSA in the manual. Found this on the Honda Powersport website.
