Default 2006 CBR1000RR vs. 2006 GSXR1000

I am a long-time fan of CBRs in general for their power, comfort, fit and finish. I was wondering how the 2006 GSXR 1000 compares in HP, handling, readability to the 2006 CBR 1000RR? I was looking at buying a used 2006 CBR 1000 (which was just sold) and have just been offered the GSXR with a lot of extras at a good price. I'm wondering if the GSXR rides and handles just as nice? Is it as reliable?

I had aGsxr but I ended up selling it so I could get my 1000rr. Not really sure about the '06 Gsxr 1000 but my '03 Gsxr was great. Didn't have any problems with it but after riding my 1000rr, I noticed the stability and smoothnessof the bike(looks hot too).Gsxr 1000's off the bat has more hp but I hear it's unstable. Seriously bro,go for the bike that you like and don't listen to anybody else cause you're the one who's going to be riding it! You won't be dissappointed with either bikes so it's a win win situation.

I had an 06 gsxr 1000 and the 06 CBR1000RR

The gsxr is a fine bike, fit and finish is not the same as Honda. That being said it is not bad just not as good.

The good part of the GSXR's alot of bang for the buck (Seat Cowl, Gear indicator, Shift light you can see )
And you can literally change oil, sparkplugs, air cleaner and synch the TB's in less than an hour. You wont even have all the plastic off the Honda when you are finished with the GSXR. They really designed the bike to be maintained by the end user.

I had mine for 4000 miles about 5 months, and I have nothing neg. to say about it. There is alot of hype about the frames breaking. That is just SQUIDS abusing them.

The Honda is a smoother engine, and the seating position is more aggressive on the Honda. Not a bad thing just different. I never felt that the Honda could not hold its own against the GSXR, in fact the Honda I thought would come up much easier than the GSXR. Both are great bikes, you cant go wrong either way.

Dont get suckered into a Suzuki, wait for a Honda im a long time CBR owner also and get them side by side and you will see the difference in the 2. Quality will prevail over the name.

I was also considering a GSXR 1000 before I got my CBR1000RRthe gixer just didn't look as good as the cbr did. There are plenty of reviews that say the gixer is the top bike. It always finishes on top. And if you look at the bike it is pretty much set up with everything in mind. One thing I noticed was the frame bolts are on the outside of the fairing. You don't have to buy no cuts or cut holes its there for you already. There are alot of things like that you will find on the gixer, its just thought out and designed for the do it yourselfer. But to me the cbr is just as good and looks better especially the repsol so Honda I went. Suzuki makes some fine stuff, its not like their stuff breaks down or has huge problems.

I just got a zx-10r after having compared all of the literbikes. The Gixxer was definitely the ugliest of the four IMO and had theworst looking build quality (not bad mind you, just not as good as the Honda or Yamaha). The Honda was brilliant in terms of fit and finish as they always are. It is definitely down on power compared to the GSXR and is much worse comfort wise. I honestly never really considered the gixxer though just because of the sheer number of people that have them. I wanted something a little more rare and different and ended up riding green (though mine is black). Just get whatever you like the looks of because the performance differences are a push to anyone not on the MotoGP circuit......

GSXRs are not very comfortable to ride like Hondas and they done't handle as well. If you ever read motorcycle mags. everyone seems to agree that Hondas always have the best handling. I also have personel expereance being a tech for a Honda, Kawasaki, Suzuki dealership. I've rode old bikes from early 90's to today and I've always loved the way Hondas hug the turns. To me it feels like I don't have to fight the bike to lay it into a turn and it's so smooth coming in out of turns.

Thanks guys. You confirmed what my gut was telling me.
I had a CBR 600 from 92-2000 and loved it. I'm now wan to get back into riding and saw a used stock 2006 CBR 1000rr at the dealer. Later that day, the salesman who I talked to about the CBR, called and told me it is now sold. He knew I was interested and told me about a used 2006 GSXR 1000 for about $100 more with chrome wheels, frame, rt-5, low-jack. I was tempted, but I'm going to stick with getting the Honda. Now just trying to find a used one during this time of year!
