RE: 2006 cbr1000 rr
I took mine out again around the neighborhood today and I am happy to say so far, “this bike is amazing!” The steering is very responsive but easy to read. What was really amazing to me was the power and torque of the engine in first gear. While I was rolling along at 10-20 mph I was opening up the throttle quickly like in a way some call cracking it open or blipping it I could easily get the front will up controllably early in the RPM range then set it down controllably by letting off the throttle slowly. I was only getting the front only up about 24 inches and only for a second or so but doing just that the bike was very controllable up and down. I can't wait for the roads to warm up so I can start leaning her over.
By the way I also almost got T-Boned by some teen age kid. I was cruising along at 35 mph which was the posted speed limit when the kid pulled up to the intersection on my right. He quickly looked left then right and started to pull out while looking right, totally not realizing I was approaching the intersection. I am sure that if I hadn’t trained myself to pay attention when approaching an intersection for a situation just like this I am sure I would not gotten on the brakes in time and hit the car crashing my 2006 CBR1000RR with 15 miles on it.

April 8th! How did you talk them into holding one so long for you? I was told they can't hold one for more then two weeks. Oh well it made me squeeze the trip down into my busy schedule.

Thinking about it, really doesn't make much sense. Southern Honda already bought the bike at a certain price in March and are selling it at a certain amount right now based on what they already paid for it. I put a deposit down 2 days ago. Why would I have to pay more for the bike if the prices go up next month?????

I guess I talked to the right person. HOWEVER, he said prices are always subject to change at the 1st of every month. So....I may not be locked in for their current price (stayed the same last 4 months) but salesman said price shouldn't go up much if anything.

I just bought a 2006, in the black persuassion. I owned a '97 929 Fireblade; and I have to say this is the most powerful bike I've had the pleasure of saddling. In first gear, the power kicks in at 2000 rpm's from there the bike begs to ridden....I owned a 2003 CBR 600RR before this one, and the difference is like republican vs. democrats...(or is there a differnce?)...Just read Cycle Worlds March magazine. It doesn't have much on performance, but I would bet my life that this CBR surpasses the R1, and K10, easily..
Buy the bike!!!

So, for you guys who rode the 2006, is it true that it is pretty twitchy?
For example, the 954RR without a steering damper was very easy to upstet and not to put in the hands of an non experienced rider!!
However, the 2004 and 2005 RR was planted as a locomotive and sooo confidence inspiring and so smooth.
But articles say the mods in 06 made it lose some of it's composure.
As it is often said, Honda usually build motorcycles that are so fast, but they are so smooth that you don't feel it and it
even can be boring (for some). There has been some exceptions, the 954RR being one of them.
To me, composure is good. I'd rather concentrating on going fast than fighting the bike for it to do what I want...
Any feedback on the 06 from you guys would be highly appreciated!!
Keep riding!

This is my first 1-liter, and having all that low end torque is great. It's not twitchy unless you snap the throttle open. I think it's an awesome bike because you can cruise around on it easy and just know that when it comes to the highway you've got "all that and more" waiting for you.
