Default 2006 CBR 1000 RR

Hello everyone, I bought my 2006 CBR 1000 RR (red & black) for $10,900 OTD back on FEB 1 (Florida). I must have been the among the first owners in the Nation. I've been waiting for that bike since NOV 2005. The price included 3 oil filters, & a wrench!!! That was the best i could have negotiated. The bike was straight out of the box with about 1 mile mileage on it. So far, I have about 800 miles on it, & I am about to perform my 3 rd oil change using MOBILE 1 EXTENTED PERFORMANCE> I m breaking it in gently & properly, with few high rpm bursts here & there. My highest speed so far is 150 mph on I-95. The bike still had much more to offer but I chickened out LOL. I have a scorpio alarm installed on mine, & I'am extreemly satisfied with everything. I'am looking for some frame sliders for my 06, any suggestions? Also the suspension seems hard abit. I am 5-10 tall weighing 200 pounds. Also does anyone suffer from any lower neck pain?? Maybe it's my NOLAN helmet that is too heavy....Thanks.

Welcome to the board! Your suspension shouldn't be too stiff if you're at 200lbs. I'm 190 with gear and I had to increase my preload a bit. If I was gonna race I'd put in way stiffer springs.

Welcome, Nice choice! I noticed my suspension feels a bit stiff - I'm regularly bounced by one of the remaining frost heaves up here in New Hampshire. I weigh about 185 but am 6'0".

I'm just under 600 miles on mine, breakin' her in easy but I've opened it up a bit on the way to work more than once to get an idea of what she can do.

I've also noticed a little stiffness in the neck, usually if I am wearin my backpack, but that comes with the package I guess.

Welcome to the forum. I also have a red and black 06 and I love it. I have had mine for about a month now but only have about 140 miles on it. I plan on doing the recommended oil changes at the recommended intervals since I have not heard of anyone having problems doing it that way. What does it cost you to do an oil change using the Mobile One Extended? Why are you using Extended? Going by the name isn't the purpose intended for extended time between oil changes? The only frame sliders I've seen so far for the 06's are ones that have two mounting points and look like the mount will break with a moderate hit. Direct mounting the slider to the engine mount is the way to go but the way the new mid faring fits the 06 it will require a half moon shaped cut from the aft edge. Since there is no real easy way to make the cut it will be a complex procedure for sure. Not sure why your neck is hurting you unless you are not riding consistently enough to get used to the riding position. Also try relaxing everything when you ride except your legs squeezing the tank and your abs keeping your upper torso weight off the clip-on’s.

Try the Suomy Spec 1- R if you've got neck pain, been riding for more years than I'd like to admit and never found anything so comfortable, of course everybodys bean is shaped a little different but go try one out http://suomy-usa.com/ seems that these guys still have some of the best prices on suomy's http://tinyurl.com/lj534

Thanks for the feedback everyone, I will change oil so often, not because the oil has gone bad, but because of so much metals & dirt produced during break in. I m at about 800 miles now, & will be changing oil every 1000 miles in the future (I m planning to keep this bike for at least 2-3 years). Again, I know that the oil is still good, but to get rid of any engine residues that in not caught by the filter, etc...As far as frame sliders, here's what I found, http://www.moto911.com/catalog/produ...roducts_id=674 , let me know what you think.

I am also using the Mobile 1 EP and Mobile One oil filter and is working smooth. I have always heard it is better to break in the engine with petrolium oils Then switch to Synthetic after a couple thousand miles or so. That topic has been discussed on this forum in the past if you want to check it out.

I first read about using Moblie 1 on this Tech guy's website that sends his oil to the lab for testing.

Welcome aboard

According to the website techy it is supposed to be a better filter than the Honda stock filter. He wrote a paragraph on it , click on the link (oil change) and read about it's efficiencny rating.

I read the specs he posted with regard to M1 oil filter. But how could we say it is better when we do not even have the specs for the honda oil filter!!!!!!!!!!! + There are so many M1 filters this size, why the M1-108?? why not the M1-103 for example? I'll change oil every 1000 miles & stick to Honda filters.
