RE: 2005 1000rr with 406 miles?
I bought my Repsol on Ebay from an outstanding individual.
Heed my typing: GET IN TOUCH WITH THE SELLER BEFORE YOU BID AND CREATE A DIALOGUE with them to confirm the reality of the sale. Many scammers out there are copying other pics of bikes and posting them to steal your down payment... STEAL YOUR DOWN PAYMENT[:@][:@][:@][:@]!!!
I even had someone contact me from London indicating they had bought the bike in the US and were willing to ship it to me back here in the states if I bid on the bike and made the payment. THE WORST OF IT came when I asked him why he was selling it? He said his son was having a kidney transplant and they needed the money ASAP... $3500 doesn't help a kidney transplant = my pops a Doc.... Too Screwy so I wished him and his son the best of luck and no more contact.
Once again have a list of questions for your seller: VIN number (check it and where it's really located!), ask specific questions regarding the stock/mods on the bike. Even Stock questions should be asked since people who own these bikes are enthusiasts!!! Lots of questions folks, it tends to bring out the scum and irritation in Scammers since they have no answers...
In my case it was a fellow Army Guard guy who served in IRAQ while I was flying there. We exchanged info regarding our units and location, questions regarding the bike were flawless and finally I asked if it was OK not to give him the $500.00 down payment within the 24 hours since I was several states away. I guaranteed him that I would drive the some 10 hours and make the transaction painless with solid payment preparation. All he asked is that I bid on it through Ebay to protect the both of us with EBAY coverage. Look of for the EBAY protection shield on the selling items. It's specifically for vehicals. I believe it covers nearly $20K....or something if it's faulty due to false representation by both parties... I could of read it wrong, but the shield is not normally seen on the scammers selling nothing(bikes they don't even own!!!)
Note: Many scammers won't have a VIN number or where it's located!!!
GOOD LUCK out there. Ebay is a great way to find deals and selling parties, but be very wary and contact the seller for specifics I can't emphasize this enough. I watched for bikes on Ebay for 4 solid months every other day and saw over 50 re-listings of bikes which were sold already which I tried to report!

Just looked at your photo gallery. Your bike looks great. I'm up in Magnolia. If you're ever coming up 249, stop by, I'd love to take a closer look.
