Mine's about $268.00 per/year. I got it thru an insurance broker... I called every single number in the Yellow Pages. It's a Progressive policy; tonnes cheaper than Progressive themself quoted me - yeah go figure. My other insurancec Co (Farmer's was about a $1,000.00 per year... adios). This is with a $500.00 deductable.[:'(]; non-smoker; married; home owner.
My advice is: do your home work

What I have found is some insurance companies go by bike type and will charge way more because the 1000RR is considered a high-performance bike. Other ins companies just go by CC's so a 600cc Honda Shadow is the same as a 600RR, etc. when everyone knows a 600RR can run circles around the Shadow. I have State Farm and they go by CC's only.
Check around and do your homework - nothing will beat doing a little leg work. The same person in a different part of the country or even in a different part of the same city could pay different amounts.
Lots of things come in to play and it's hard to compare insurance rates with people over the internet. My .02

[8D]As you are beginning to gather by now, there's a HUGE range in prices. I had Farmers & my current policy (Progressive) give me a break for being a non-smoker. They also gave a a break for rider education, including MSF, Code's CSS, Spencer's school in LV & riding schools at various tracks up-n-down the Best Coast - serious. I just had to produce the papers showing I had gone thru the schools.
My policy does not cover PIP - not required in my state on motorbikes... but it is on cars - go figure. But I have fantastic health insurance from work so really don't need it. If you have great health coverage and your carrier has PIP on you see if you can get a discount by dropping that portion.
I also take a continuing ed class now and then at one of the colleges/universities (always @ renewal time) in the area so they give me a student discount... even tho' I'm an old git.
Again, let them know if you're buying your own home - you get a discount for that. And of course if you're married (I am) there's another.
I never file 'minor claims'; stuff like a small scratch in the fairing, or a broken turn signal, etc. 1) I replace that kind of stuff out of pocket. 2) Get it fixed/repaired on my own. 3) Live with it. The more claims you file, the more it impacts your quotes.
Lastly, you need to be apprised that all insurance Co's use your credit record score to calculate your rate. If you want cheaper rates pay your bills on time & keep a low debt to earning ratio. Bet a few of you didn't know that. Be also aware each time someone runs a credit report on you, your rating gets dinged - true. So don't agree to allow a Ins. Co. to run a check unless their quote is great.
Cheers
