Default 07 1000rr as a daily driver

alright, right now i got a mustang gt and its killen me on gas mileage and insurance and car payment.. soo im trying to get rid of it and get a 2007 cbr 1000rr. i have almost a year experience on a 05 f4i, and after i rode my friends zx10r i wanna get a litre bike. and the 1krr seems like my ideal choice. but itll be my only means of tranportation for a couple of months until i can save enough money for a cheap honda civic beater for rainy days.. but my question is how many people use there 1000rr's as a daily driver? pro's and cons'? pickin up dates?? thanks guys lookin forward to bein in here once i get it. oh yea and i live in dallas and the weather is starting to feel better and better every day just the wind is being a bitch lately. so i shouldnt have any problems with snow/ice.

I ride everyday to work, and the only problem I have is when I have to take extra stuff to work and it doesnt all fit in my backpack. I guess a tank bag would rid me of that problem. I love riding everyday except now cause bike is in shop. I live in San Diego so I ride everyday except on rain days, and for now till I get the bike back.

Guys complaining about books should get a cargo net. I use mine and it does not restrict me when I ride and can hold a back pack and another case for clothes on my tail section. I'd take a 600cc bike for the gas saver daily driver.

I rode it to school every day when I was in college... if it doesn't fit in your bag learn to live without it

how much better is a 600 mpg then a 1000.. the reason why i want the 400 extra cc's is because after i rode my friends zx10r i loved how much quicker and smooth it was comapred to the 600 were i would do quick on ramp acceleration the 600 left me wanting more. were the 1000 kept giving and kept giving.. how does hte 1000rr rate to the zx10 does anyone know?

The ZX10 is more powerful, but a lot less forgiving. If you read any of the shootouts, they say that the honda is a better daily commuter/street bike because it is smoother, more predictable and more forgiving. But with either bike- it really comes down to the rider.

I use my 1000RR as a daily commuter (exept for freezing temps (32 and below) and rainy days). I am also going to school and I found a tank bag that will hold up to 5 of my books. Just be sure it is NOT a magnetic tank bag. Parking is also great - I have never received a ticket for parking my bike on the sidewalk on campus.

Depends on the 600 you get. My bike gets approx 30 at my normal pace (moderate take offs and some high revs) and 35+ at a conservative pace (not passing 5k). The 1000 guys can chime on their numbers because I can't speak for them.
