06 motor

Two part question, has anyone heard of a spun main bearing on this bike? Two looking for a motor to just drop in, is there a difference between the regular cbr and the fireblade?

I've heard of a couple guys taking out main bearings on gsxr's and on a 954. On an 06 1000 in particular? no. but it is possible for a mechanical failure in any engine. To my knowledge the "fireblade" in particular is just a name, meaning a 'regular' cbr and a fireblade would be the same thing.

the 2006 cbr1000 has bearing halves installed, and they can be spun. before you tear your motor completely apart, drop the oil pan and look for metal flakes and chunks in the oil, that is normally a tattletale. then, check your oil pickup screen for metal, and make sure its not clogged. normally, when you have spun a bearing, it is because of improper lubrication. That can be repaired, and if you are thinking of replacing the engine anyway, then disassemble the motor and check and see if your crank and cases can be saved. Lastly, the 1000 is the fireblade. the two are one in the same.
