Default 06 CBR1000 coolant leak, anyone?

Hi there,
Now that the snow is melting and that we had a great, sunny day, I was cleaning my bike today, all excited about a newriding season beginning.
While wiping the bike, I noticed a few drops of the green liquid (coolant) on the bottom part of the fairing (the dark part).
It seems to come from the part just in front of the shifter, which has two hoses coming in/out of it.
The leakdoes notseem tocome from the hoses. Maybe the gasket? Is this part the water pump?
Anyway, I am kind of scared 'cause my warranty finished last week!!!
I only have 7600km on the bike and I did not ride it the whole winter (winter sucks).
Anybody else had this leak?
Thanks for your precious feedback!
Pat

mine does that too i wouldn't worry. If you look closely you'll notice the coolant overflow line is about two inches above and 3 inches foward from where you are seeing the leak. It just flies back because of the wind when you ride.

Stop referring to the '06CBR1000RR as the K6 ... it's not a gixxer.

I can't seem toupload the picson my computer...
I will try and do it at work tomorrow.
If you look at the shifter then move towards the front of the bike, the very first 'thing" you see is a device on which rubber hoses are connected.
This thing seems to have drippedon the edge of thefairing that runs right underneat (the dark part), as there was green liquid on the edge of the fairing and the same green liquid underneat the device.
Cande17, it can't be the wind as I did not ride the bike for months (there is still snow here). But thanks for your post.

People will refer to their bike the way they please. Now go back to Gixxer.com, if you are so obsessed with Gixxers.

Heck let's run with this make up your own name thing. Next time I talk about brake discs I'll call them pancakes.

mine leaks on the right side.. my bad. and the coolant coulda been there from last year's riding because it doesn't evaporate quickly. it would be a greenish white residue after sitting for the winter

Hi folks,
I took the bike to the dealership today. I showed the mechanic where the leak was from and the 'device' I was referring to is indeedthe water pump.
Now we need to see if the leak comes from an overflow, a hose, a gasket or something else.
I will keep you guys posted as soon as the dealer gets back to me so you can check up your own bikesand make sureyou have the repair performed while you still
have warranty coverage, should it be required.
My warranty expires in 3 days : (
It's kind of scary. The bike is 'over maintained' and ridden with a lot of care... hopefully it is nothing to worry about.
Stay tuned.

It could be a bad copperwasher on the coolant drain even. The coolant drain plug is one of the bolts on the water pump. You can tell which it is by seeing a copper washer/gasket behind the bolt head. Possibly the gasket on the water pump too. Hard to say really unless you can see it dripping out.
