05 repsol edition cbr1000rr
Hey guys.... I'm new here so forgive my ignorance..... I've got some questions on a bike... as you can see its an 05 cbr 1000 rr repsol edition.. The bike is probably a 5 out of 10, the owner took the mirrors off, tail fender off, no turn signals, has not changed the air filters, the oil is low, it also needs new brakes all arround, new rear tire and probably a new chain..... now the problem.... I belive the bikes frame is straight, but it has been dropped twice, the first one was riding and the 2nd one was moving it, the first one was only cosmetic and repaired by the owner, the second one has not been repaired and its in the bottom faring on the right side it has a hole about 3/8" - 1/2" in diameter.... I quoted the parts to replace and it came close to 800 clams.... thats without the plastic!!!! andgetting a discount from a friends shop and me doing all the labor...... wow..... this guy wants to sell this bike to me, according to the black book with its 8,000 miles, it should be $6500 bucks, but that is if the bike is in awesome condition, which its not.... the shop owner friend of mine told me to offer him $3,500. what do you guys think???? is it too low??? I know he owes money on the bike, but I don't know how much.
thx guys any replies will be greatly appreciated

$5600 black book is definitely not accurate. These bikes are selling for $7k-$7.5k day in and day out...KBB is still almost $8800.

I'm not saying he won't take $3500, but that's should be too hard to shake $6000 out of a buyer. If it were mine, I'd ask blue book and reduce the estimate for repairs. For that money, you can get an 04-05 1K in great shape that somebody is just trying to get rid of.

Unless the guy doesnt know anything about bikes or is in desperate need for money, he won't take 3500. I'm looking to sell my 05 Repsol and some douchebag offered me 5 grand. Said it would make us both happy... the bike is in mint condition. He made the comment about the riding season being over and I won't beable tosell it. Needless to say, I never responded to the guy again. A lowball offer does have its reprecussions, so be careful.
Ask him what he owes on it. If its something he is just looking to get out from under, he will probably want at least that amount. You may luck out and it may be only 4 grand or so.. but if he wants to sell the bike.. he should already have told you a price. Thats not to say you can't hagle him down... but without knowing what he wants in the first place, its kinda hard to tell.
