Default Yet another chain lube question

I just put a new chain on my 91 1KF and keeping it lubed is a no brainer. My question is has anyone tried a dry lube on their chain. I had to squirt some liquid wrench dry lube spray into my front door lock the other day and it worked like magic and the key slides like knife through butter. So I was wondering if it would work on a motorcycle chain. Any thoughts welcome.

Some kinds of lube can damage the chains o-rings, so if you don't know for sure that what you're using won't, then don't use it.

Dry lub ok for moving parts when the parts are moving slowly ie doors etc, but for a chain you need something better.

Default RE: Yet another chain lube question

With O-ring and X-ring types of chains it is very important to get the lube past the rings and between the pins and rollers. That is the whole idea of the rings in the first place, to seal the lube in. I doubt that dry will do it. I use chain wax. The wax is carried buy alcohol that gets into where it is needed and then evaporates leaving the wax. The wax that is between the pins and rollers eventually gets squeezed out pushing dirt and debris along with it extending chain life

Things that can damage the O-rings are products with solvents such as WD-40. WD-40 has little lubricating properties and should not be used. It is also too thin. The thicker products have less chance of being thrown off as well. When the wax product dries it is very thick.
