Default Why I love this bike

I have to say I have always enjoyed the old 1000F because it will do anything. I can ride it fast, putt around, put my wife on back, or go touring. I just got in the door from a nine day, 2600 mile journey through the US and Canada, and this old bike ran like a champ the whole way. I now have 30,800 miles on it.

Here's the basic route without the side trips and such.

When its cold or rainy, or if I just need to change positions, I like to put my feet on the rear pegs and lay right down on the tank. I can also stand on the front pegs and rest my heels on the exhaust shrouds if I want to stretch my legs. It's nice to have some options.

Now, I am suffering from dementia induced by severe sleep deprivation and alcohol abuse. I need to go to bed.

Cheers brothers.

Nice trip Tim. I'd love to do some longer rides on my bike, just getting the time. I get to ride most days when I'm home, but they're short blasts of an hour or so, nothing of any real distance.

Great bikes for sure. Sounds like a heck of a trip, too. Glad it went well.

And it's funny about you laying down on the tank and using the passenger pegs. I like to put my elbows on my knees sometimes to relax. I've also been known to sit on the passenger seat for a change of pace....lol.

Nice ride. Did you get a chance to stop at Dinosaur BBQ in Syracuse, NY?

It's funny you ask! It was at the top of our list, but we waited for an hour for a cab just to get there, and when we arrived they said it was another hour and 20 for a table. We said screw it and went down to Empire Brewing Company. As it turns out, they were just as slow. They had an excellent Pale Ale on tap though!

Good you made it home all in one piece.......
1000F's are one of the most reliable bikes on the road, even today.

Yep! I90 is only 3 minutes from my place. NY RT20 West is more scenic but longer ride than I90. I90 runs down in the valley by the river where RT20 is up in the ridge in places and you can look north to the high peaks of NY.

Hey Sprock! Is that lobster or lob-sta? lol

I'm not sure how we got into Syracuse because the GPS was set to avoid toll highways (I discovered this after). We rode along a lake for quite sometime and then it cut across some farms and a swamp. Ended up on a one lane bridge that was right on the edge of the interstate. We turned left and were five minutes from downtown.

We didn't really stop for much along the way. And where I come from we eat lobstah like its free. Well, it almost is nowadays!
