Where to put tie down straps for transport?
Hello,
I have to move my bike and put it in the back of the pickup. Where should I put the tie down straps? I won't put them on the clip-on's because the strap will put strain on the fairing and I don't want that. Should or could I loop the strap around the end of the handlebar/grip and go from there?

It all depends on the angle that you can get the straps. Anywhere thats solid as high as possible with, as you already know, no pressure on plastics etc. Two things to remember, compress the forks as much as possible & tie the back to stop it moving around. Usually takes two people.

Thank you gentlemen. I did see the Canyon Dancer straps that go around the grips and fashioned something like them up out of ski boot straps that skiers use to carry their boots with 2 loops on the strap. Then I'll go from the passenger footpeg brackets to the bed corners.

yeah have someone sit on the bike while the other guy pulls one side tight ( say right side )then have the guy sitting on the bike lean the other way ( to the left ) while you pull the other strap tight ( on the left side ). I've done it like this many times, even had to mash the brakes in traffic and bike did not move

I take my straps and run them under the front end of the bike once around the front shock and then up where the shocks connect to the top end and take the hook end of the strap and tighten them that way (if you want pictures i will get you some) but only takes one person to do that and works really good. I put the bike in the back of my R/t dakota and use a 1/2 thick aluminum ramp i bought at a motorcycle shop.
