Guessing by the self expanding screw on it that it attaches to the undertray at the rear of the bike? Mine's completely open at the rear atm for a project and found similar screws there, though there's nothing that looks like that on mine as far as I can tell (mine's a '95 aswell).
Well I've seen plenty of spare screws/bolts etc when putting things back together but never a mystery panel before so well done that man lol
