Whats the best way to start a CBR1000?

Mine can be a bitch. Put new plugs in but it still sometimes takes 3-4 even more goes to fire up. Its only done 9000k :(
Should you give it no throttle, some throttle, half or even more?
And how long should a CBR1000F take to warm up? On a 25c day if I haven't ridden it for a few days it needs the choke in and me giving some revs every 10 secs for the first 2-3 minutes before its happy (idles at 1000rpm once its warmed up). Just seems to take ages. My old 1995 ZZR1100 warmed up in 20 secs.

I did always use the choke on my CBR 1000 F when the engine was cold, even during summer and 25 deg C (with cold engine). An ambient temperatureof +25 deg C is still very cold compared to theengine's normal runningtemperature. And trying to cold start my bikewithout choke was more or less meaningless. If you have cold start problems even with the choke activated, it could be time to check the valve lash.

My -90 CBR1000F (soon 100' km's) fires up like a dream, no matter temperature. I always use choke, and NO throttle. If your battery is in its last 50% of its lifetiume this could also cause your problem.

Mine used to be an absolute dog to start, some mornign you would think I hope te battery doesnt go flat. But now I give it half choke and press the starter button and she fires staright away, I then give it 30 seconds and then release the choke, a couple of 2 to 3,000 Revs and shes ready, my solutions was easy all of my valves were tight once these were set it totally changed the girl.

With the valves cold it can be a pain to start. Chech the valve clearances and see if that cures your problems, if not then you will need to look at other options. Good luck

Actaully,I could do with some help as not had 'the thou' long.. Recently in the really cold weather, the bike will start with the choke, but as soon as the choke is released, it cuts out.

Has had a new fuel pump etc recently, wonder if we've done something wrong? Any ideas anyone? Cheers!

Are you easing the choke off?

Hi, the main problem was originally we were starting on full choke and it wouldn't ease off at all, it would just cut off. This morning we can't start it at all! Reckon it might be carbs or something else?

mine is full choke ,dont touch the throttle, let it chugg for 30 secs, open to quarter throttle, kill choke, ease throttle down and it sits there dead happy at idle.

This is what was happenign to mine once you got it running and you turned the choke off SLOWLY it would stall and if it didnt want to start it wouldnt so you had to go away have a coffee and try again GREAT if yo uneed to be at work. I tried everything even went through carby cleanign aditives untill I bit the bullet and put it in and had the carbys taken off and the values done now its a please that was 7,000 Kls ago. It only cost $230 AU to have it done and the shop told me the carbs were clean.
