I know '87 was the first year, because my buddy got one (worked for the local dealer). Did they stop in '97 with the release of the 1100xx? The reason I ask this is I see them at bikez.com into the late 90's; perhaps continued in Europe? Paint schemes on that site lead me to believe that some colors were continued for 2-3 years. I recall the '87 as being red and black, but in '88 the black was actually dark blue. I'm currently drooling over a mint '96 located near Toronto with Helibars, Givi windscreen, and Corbin seat and only 12.000 miles (U.S. model I guess)

US models were imported between 93-96. The XX replaced it starting in 97. The European version was made from 93-99.

 

In Australia they were sold until 99 alongside the Blackbird for 3 years.

The '87 also came in Alaska Grey and Dark Blue. I bought mine brand new in May '87 from CycleWorld in Toronto. It won't be the same colour next spring though - she's finally getting a paint job.

 

I saw in another post you did that you were going with a Indigo Blue. Are you planning on any graphics as part of the paint scheme ? Under the clear coat perhaps ?
