What oil for my K&N air filter

Hi all. Just checked my air filter and having been stood in a hot/dry atmosphere for 5 years it's well, pretty dry. Can I use any reasonably liquid (ie not too viscous) oil or do I need to buy a special variety?

After its cleaned, use the K&N filter oil and spray it on. Go light on it and let it soak in.

Make sure it is not `breaking down' as sitting in dry heat for that long may have deteriorated it.

I use the K&N oil itself. They have it in a spray can and it's very convenient. 28 year old filter still going strong.

The K&N spray is not like an oil. Its more tacky stuff than regular oil and stays in place. K&N spray is more like glue that doesn't dry. Oil will run down.
