Got Rear tire changed, changed it with stuggling, had to take brakes off.. have to admit, tearing things apart is a lot more easier than getting it back together

What I enjoyed most? Using my original toolset
Since after move things are still all over the place. Havent found their spot yet.

Packed my things, went inside to get sth to eat. Exited for a test ride, putted my dishes to sink, figured to have one cigarette before dressing up for a ride. Sun shining everything cool, feeling happy and within 3 minutes I find myself running around my yard, catching all things able to fly, and then it hits. Heavy rain, lightning in the sky.

Nice day indeed but No test drive:/

So I got home today, no sun no wind, have eaten and now gearing up and going to fetch oil and a filter for us to start going out more

Awesome Missy! Changing tires can be a pain but it's worth it. It feels great to be able to do that yourself and it gets easier the more you do it, just stick with it and I bet you'll have your time down to a 1/10 of your first time before long.

Did you make good use of the dish soap/tire lube? Also I found having three tire irons is way better than two.

Cool 1988 maintenance day and upgrades

Drained and replaced coolant, new coolant cap, clean and lubricated the chain.
Replaced Brake/clutch lever and lines with Spiegler, bled both hydraulic systems.
Finished the aluminum ducting for the upgraded oil cooler ('90 is one row taller than '88).
Photos description.
1- Aluminum duct unpainted
2- Duct painted in racing black to add 5 rwhp
3- Oil cooler, no duct, showing how it overhangs

Well I finally successfully sealed the rocker cover . Leaking carbies took up and now don't leak , so I took her to local servo to fill her up with premium . Got home , a quick double check that all is still dry , oil and filter change after the cam chain and tensioner replacement over easter . I haven't been on her since I bought the V Strom last year . Rego ran out in sept 2013 . . Forgotten just how much mumbo the old girl has

Took my 87 out for a run yesterday - right as I got out on the road she started
drumming on 3 cylinders %^% !

Came back home threw in about 5 oz of seafoam (being lazy and not wanting to
pull the carbs ) then took off again off up the back roads to Mt Agamenticus to
try and free her up. after about a 1/2 mile winding her up good I felt #3 cyl
kick in - rode her hard for another hour 8 - 10k rpm - no mercy - now she
purrs like a fat cat after a bowl of milk !

Working on installing a carb kit and jets, an outstanding project I have been meaning
do for a long time - these will be going on my 1990.

Took my Vstrom out for a run today , called in to Vic roads (rego office ) to inquire about my lapsed registration on the CBR . turns out I'll have to get a RWC and re register her
So the plan is to wait for May 2015 to register her on club plates .

What are club plates as opposed to a conventional rego Al ?

Just in case I find myself in Oz someday

Club rego is for cars/bikes over 25 years old . Allows you to use vehicle for 90/180 days per year for about a quarter of the cost of full registration . I may be slightly out on the detail , but thats the basic idea . Also , I won't need a RWC to get registered . Saving about $400 per year
