Question

I have taken my bike apart, all the plastic is in the basement. The rest is on stands in the garage waiting on the mechanical stuff to be done. CC and CCT. carbs and a good cleaning.

I have the plastic in the basement thinking what to do with it. Most the right side needs some sort of FG work. Also thinking of modifying the nose to fit a later model touring windscreen.

Just finished putting the carbs back on after a complete disassemble, clean, re-jet and then a synchronization. Lubed cables and changed oil. Went for a test ride and all is well, lost that horrible stumble I had just of idle due to a clogged pilot jet. Bike hasn't ran this good since I got it a couple of years ago. Very gratifying when you can do the job yourself and have a great outcome, plus saving some money.

Well my 1990 has some "one offs" from ebay for 41mm forks (what our bikes
use).....and they are awesome.

My 1993 currently has 1992 VFR 750 bars which are a big improvement over
stock BUT ......... I have a set of DanMoto 3 D, HD10 adjustable bars in
silver waiting to go on the 1993 to make it near identical to my no name
1990 adjustable bars. These require cutting to stock length (the bar that is)
and I drilled and tapped mine to take some generic heavy bar weights for
when I finally get around to installing them .....weather is too good these
days to have the bikes off the road so most upgrades and heavy maint'
waits until the snow arrives

So yesterday ..a quick oil and filter change for me on the 1993 with the
new "Traveller" 15w 40 oil I got from TSC .......5 Gallons - $55

Default In for a service and tyres

Well I had the fering off ready for a sand and respray but I crashed the Mrs's cage..... (tree at 40kmh but that's a side story) so she's comendeering my ute which means the bike is back on the road ahead of schedule.

She's in for a full service as the last one was at the end of 2008.... (I've been a bad boy).... oh and new tyres... I usualy put Battleaxes on so I've asked for the same but with a little harder on the front as I chewed through the last one and I'm not riding as hard as I used to.

Gonna have to wait for the respray

Default Genmar Risers

Put on my genmar risers today, makes the bike feel really different, it feels like the steering input is faster/easier at slow speeds. It actually felt quite wierd to start with but I soon got used to them. I did not travel that far but my hands to wrist position feels better having less weight/angle and my hand did not feel buzzy at all.

Hey:

Well I was heading to Maxton yesterday, for tech on the Hurricane for the Maxton Mile so I could get a few top speed runs in before the Wx changed to rain, and after changing the plastic 3 way coolant hose junction back a few years ago,(as the first one lasted 18 yrs) the stupid plastic 3 way blew apart on the most abandoned road part of my ride. I had to wait 3 hrs ride to get picked up by AAA then the 1hr ride back to the shop, any chance of getting any runs in were shot as it started raining hard.

So I decided to fix this problem once and for all. Got some 321 stainless, went over to the local fab shop and knocked out this beauty, (Pics below). I had to make about 10 of them to make it worth it. I plan on keeping a few CBR1KFs for a few more years so a few are all ready spoken for, but the other 6 are up for grabs if any one is wanting one, please contact me through PM if you are interested in them. I figure I have about $55 tied up in each of them and thats the cost of 2 new plastics ones. This should be a permenant fix for this bikes only real weak link.

Now I'll have to see if I can get back out to Maxton today to get past the 180 MPH mark as I seem to be stuck in the mid-upper 170 mark. I had other plans already to give somebody a hand on their ride out there, so we shall see they are after the 200 MPH++ mark and knocking at the door@198.
