Actually that's not entirely true. One of the big reasons the new motors are so much more powerful is the greatly reduced weight of the various parts of the motor. This isn't a CBR example, but I remember reading that both cams together in a new GSXR1000 motor weigh less than one of the cams in an original GSXR1100 motor. These huge reductions in mass make a huge difference in output, along with the many other things mentioned (more precise fueling, better flow characteristics, narrower valve angles, more aggressive timing made possible by electronic controls, etc.).

That may be true, at least as far as the moving engine parts are concerned. This may be part of the reason that the newer engines can spin so much faster. Lighter non moving parts- engine cases for example- I doubt would have any effect on power. Similarly, lighter non engine parts also would not effect power output. I suspect the biggest single reason that the newer bikes are so much lighter than our bikes is that their aluminum frames are so much lighter than our steel frames.

It's in every bike forum on the internetz... lol.. But yeah, it's here too..

I agree that PlayfulGod was referring to the greater acceleration due to the lesser weight.
Yep, just pokin' at us, so he was...

By spraying some WD-40 on the chain, the results are greatly magnified
Dam right...
Between WD-40 and race gas, I can beat any RR on the street.
And I don't like your tone, son...

There's another thread where the thread starter is asking a question about how to lube his cables. The perfect straight man.

I can't believe one of you didn't mention the "40".

BTW I just found the infamous WD thread. I remember once, being new to forums and thinking I had a point, getting myself talking out of my fanny a little too far and getting responses that made me weasel until my point was whittled down to nothing, but I never admitted I had jumped to a bad conclusion. I should have just fessed up right away. There's nothing wrong with "NO KIDDING? Wow, thanks for straitening me out." Such an approach actually reveals judgment and intelligence more than never backing down. Amen. Play Ball.

Mind sharing a link? Was it us guys, or another part of this forum?

So did you find where someone finally admitted that WD-40 is awesome for use on chains?

Cuz it is....
