Thumbs down What a fork leg should NOT look like.

I've had problems with my front right fork leg eating seals on a regular basis. I managed to track down a dismantled CBR750 (cos they differ from the 1000 only having 39mm dia forks) that had a great set of forks a month or so back.

I finally changed out the knackered fork recently and took some pics of the carnivorous pitted leg. It is well and truely poked, check the pics (I had to take a few cos the chrome makes it difficult to get the detail)

Cheers

Pretty nasty, you've saved yourself a lot of wasted effort, just changing the seals isn't enough, any rust will chew through them double quick time.

Lucky you found used ones in good condition, I managed to pick a brand new pair up off E-bay at half price, I really got lucky that day

It's the dirty work of the dreaded metal worms again, I'd say.

Nah the the CBR 750 only came out with the 39mm forks, which is a pain trying to get parts or accessories. Honda shoulda fitted the 41mm tubes like the thou's, more robust and easier to get parts etc.

I did contemplate changing the entire front end out and fitting up a thou front end (wheel, disks, forks, triple clamps etc) for a while as I could find these easily. Also I would like to have slightly taller clip-on's but with the 39mm tubes are near impossible to get any, including the Mk1 VFR 750 units.

It took me nearly four months to find another wrecked 750 (gear grinder)

Yeah 750's are rare, don't know how many were made and in NZ will be even more difficult. You were lucky to find 'em, look after them, maybe some gaiters or protectors would help. Maybe something like this, I think the mark 3's have something similar.

Carbon Look Universal Fork Protectors Easy Fit | eBay

Yep, the MK3 already has protectors.... exactly like that. I know mine does.

One more reason to vote MK3 all the way.
