Default What do I need to service? 1991 CBR1000FM 45000 Miles/ 72000 Km

Hi, I'm new at this forum, and found it while looking for some help.

I'm going to partly overhaul my bike verry soon, and since i don't have any history of what's been done with it in the past, i wanted some good adwise.

What i plan to do:
- Change engine oil and oilfilter.
- Change cam chain tensioner.
- Change cam chain.
- Check valves.
- Change breake and clutch fluid.
- Change front fork spring (to a progressive spring), seals and oil.
- Install dynojet kit.
- Install K&N air filter.
- Sync. carbs.
- New sparkplugs.
- Change exhaust (Two Brothers)

Now... What i wanted to know:
- Did i forget anything.
- Do I need to check more things?
-
What about the generator chain and oil pump chain?
- Does anyone have the the service intervals for this bike?

Thanks!

Change Coolant, flush
Check that little filter under the tank on the right (cabie breather)
Replace fuel filter if you have one
Lights\Switches check

On mine, when you lift the tank, right side over top of engine, I have a air breather
It has a cap underneath where a filter would go, mine had nothing so I made a filter from the foam that comes with PC Mainboards.

Why stay away from progressive springs?

I cant be arsed going into a detailed explanation (its all on google and sites like racetech) But basically the springends up having too much movement and dampening becomes guess work. Say you have a linear rate spring of .8kg. Then it would be very easy to have the rebound dampning and the oil viscosity matched to the spring rate. But because a progressive will have a constantly changing rate it will only match the damening/viscosity at one setting. Say its a .6kg to .8kg progressive. If you tune the rebound to match the .6kg then it will be underdamped whenat max travel when riding hard. But it you set it to .8kg then it willbe overdampedand harsh when cruising. It you set it to say .7kg then it will be both overdamped and underdamped depending on how much the forks are compressed which is not good for trying to figure out how much grip you have when entering into a corner. Progressives are ok if you just cruise around on nice smooth interstaes but crap when going hard or with a pillion.
