Want to change your gearing??
If you want to change your gearing I have uploaded a file here.
www.iinet.net.au/~cbr/Gearing.xls
I have put the gearbox ratio's in for my year so you will have to dig through the Haynes manual to find what you need for your year.
Cheers

RE: Want to change your gearing??
I know you guys are going to cringe when I say this, but I use my CBR to commute 100 miles per day, rain or shine. I've been reading alot of sprocket change threads in my attmept to understandhow to improve thegas mileage by reducing the rpm's at 70-80 mph which is where I cruise on my wide open highway commute. The bike is 17/42 presently. Any recommendations?

RE: Want to change your gearing??
throw a 18 on frount or 40 on back ....if your not a fat *** that is... it will make it hard to go at stop lights two up or with alot of weight.....the easiest would probly be .....well hmmm id wait till your chain is dead then replace it all at once. yea smaller on the back or bigger on the frount will do what yea want.

RE: Want to change your gearing??
I was quite shocked when i replaced the chain and sprockets on mine, because i assumed the gearing was standard, but i discovered it had
an 18 toother front sprocket and 42 rear.So i've now gone to a 17 tooth front, and a 43 on the rear.the difference is amazing.I thought it went ok

RE: Want to change your gearing??
You will be amazed once moreif you go down to 16 tooth front, then you can start practicing wheelies or just enjoy 12% more torque on all gears vs. 18 tooth. The top speed will almost not be changed at all vs, stock gearing with 16 tooth since it helps to pull the bike at warp speeds when the wind resistance becomes dominant. The lower gearing also improves drivability since the bike becomes more responsive. The mileage will go down though..
