Unused threaded bolt hole in front left brake caliper mounting

Hi all,

just starting looking at the front brakes on my 1991 FM (UK) and before dismantling anything I've noticed what appears to be an "unused" (7mm?) threaded bolt hole on the underside of the mounting for the front left caliper. There is no equivalent on the right hand side. I've attached photos of left and right sides. I downloaded from this forum the 1987 service manual (couldn't find a 1991 version) and that shows a cable on the left side coming from underneath the axle pinch bolts. My 1991 doesn't have that cable and this "unused" hole may simply be to attach a cable holder which I have no need for(?). Any clarification available? Also, (out of curiosity) what's the cable that doesn't exist on mine, and is there a 1991 service manual (that I couldn't find) on the website? Thanks.

That'd be the mount for the speedo cable on earlier versions (front wheel driven). Your speedo is driven by the front sprocket so the hole is unneeded

Aha. Thanks. Don't need to worry about something having fallen off! Any 1991 FM service manual around?
