Default Trouble with cold starts in warm weather

I recently got an '88 CBR1000f and have been loving it, but it has recently developed a problem starting now that the weather is suddenly warmer. In cooler weather (about 45F, 7C) it would start fairly easily with full choke and no throttle.

But now that the weather is warmer (70F, 20C) full choke makes it stall, but less than full choke allows the rpm to drop to about 700-500 and it eventually stalls. So now i have to babysit it for a minute, holding the throttle open slightly until the engine warms up. Once the engine is warm it will start and idle fine.

I've only put about 1K miles on it since I got it. The previous owner says the carbs were synced and the valves were adjusted very recently. Should I believe him? What are the first things that I should check?

Thanks

Thumbs up

Hey Brent, I have a 91 1000F with a similar issue, almost identical. After the babysit period she purrs like a tiger. I think its been sometime since mine have been synced. I'll be watching closely!

Bike should be idling at 1100-1250 RPM when warm, and no choke.
Any less and she'll stall on startup.
Maybe adjust your idle up ?

It is idling at about 1100 with no choke when it's warmed up. It's just the first minute or two that the idle will drop. This afternoon was very hard to get it started. It would crank and fire for a second but then stall immediately. I finally got it to start by using no choke and holding the throttle open ever so slightly when starting it; too much or too little and it would stall. After a minute of warming up it idled just like it should.

WTF really. The guy is up to something, but I'm not sure what. He joined the forum today, has made 3 posts, and none of them make any sense. He does have 2 links in his signature- a spammer perhaps? How do we report him to an administrator? Maybe he's wierding out because the protitutes in his area just raised their prices.

I sent him a polite PM, copy to Chainstretcher for info.
Let's see what happens.....................
