If you kept every piece of plastic, you can weld back together.
I have been fixing my 87's upper faring by this way. When I bought this, right side ear of the upper cawring was completely seperated. First I tried bumper repair kit (kinda soft FRP) this thing was not strong enough for vibration. The part came off less than 1000 miles. Right before this summer, my bike tried to run herself (I parked down hill and kick stand was released...) and lie down on the parking floor (I bet she was very tired..) then, same part on left came off.. I searched some websites and found how to do plastic welding with soldering iron. Using a piece of broken laundry pan, I practiced some and tried on my upper cowring. It is strong and firm. I tried to take picture, but welding and taking picture were not possible. I will post more explanation and pictrues (if I can take) later. Do not be despared. It is not hard!!

The rest of the bike is just fine, only the top fairing that's kinda cracked and messed up. Bits missing i'm afraid tho. Going to see what I can find to patch her back together tho. In the meantime took delivery of her replacement, bmw k1200rs se. Missing the 'cane tho.

You wouldn't beleive how hard it is to find a replacment for that particular fairing/cowl (not really sure what category it falls into). I was lucky enough to find some peices of it on ebay and the other parts got fiberglassed back together. I'm partial to fiberglass because you are adding in material to make it more stable and strong, but thats just me. Post up some pics if you can.
