Hmm, the yellow is still tempting... I hadn't really made up my mind yet (between red or yellow), but I'll bite the bullet and stick with the yellow frame, swingarm and front wheel

@ CBR1988; so a 900rr rear wheel you say, interesting... I do think this bike really could do with a fatter rear tyre, but do I get that wheel from a 900, 918, 929 or even a 954?
I guess this mod has been done several times befoe, so I'll look it up on the board before I start asking more questions about it haha

Hey:
Stefan, only the 6 spoke rear wheels from the CBR900RR from 92-99 work, the rest have different (larger), size wheel bearings. That is also why I suggested the VFR 90-97 front wheel to match the rear, both are larger and bolt right in there with a little work with the spacers. The rear just needs the CBR 600 F2 or F3 brake caliper brake & bracket to work. This is best done with a 90 or newer swingarm as it is a bolt in deal then. But you can mod yours to work, by welding on a bracket on top of the swingarm to hold the brake bracket down.
This also will work best with the 89n up sprocket drive speedo cover and give you the best wheel/tire selection as well.

Alright, sounds easy... but I do have some questions though:
Can I use spacers from another bike, or do I simply have to grind of some material from the old ones to make it fit, or do I have to have spacers made? (if so, do you have spacer sizes for me?)
And with the F2/3 caliper and carrier, do I need the brake disc from a F2/3 too or can I leave the RR disc in place, or install in the old sc21 disc on the RR wheel?
Will the 1000F banjo bolt fit the F2/3 caliper so I can keep my existing (steel braided) brake line, or do I need the F2/3 brake line and main cylinder too?
I looked up what the '90 and up swingarm looks like, am I right in thinking that is bracket a slider bracket for a pin in the caliper that keeps it from spinning round while maintaining easy adjusting of the rear wheel?
Will my existing rear sprocket fit the RR wheel? (chain and sprockets are still in good shape)

Front wheel leaves me with less ??'s, but still, I do have one; does the brake offset and circumference et cetera match, so in other words I have to get new wheel spacers, bolt it up and be done?

Also; I was told by the previous owner that the '87 engine blew up, and they installed a '95 engine... but I noticed the '87 carbs, and the non-speedo sprocket cover.
How can I determine the actual production year of my engine, is there a stamp in/on the casting somewhere?

Also; I was told by the previous owner that the '87 engine blew up, and they installed a '95 engine... but I noticed the '87 carbs, and the non-speedo sprocket cover. The heads are the biggest difference you have a newer 90+ head on yours.

Yes, see below

Hey:

Stefan, the year for manufacter is done by the code# on the side of the motor, should be pretty easy to see now that the motor is out.

You need the RR sprocket (the 220mm 4 bolt Rotor is the SAME on F2, F3, F4, RC51, 600RR, 1000RR, 929, & 954) and rotor, and can use the 1KF's spacers, on the rear. your rotor is 6 bolt and will not work with . Yes lines and bolts are the same on most all Hondas

Yes all u need is the complete 92-99 CBR900RR wheel assy, go to my album on here and that is the wheel setup I have on my 88, 90-94 VFR front wheel, but 95-97 give newer type floating rotors. the 90-94 6 spoke is the like the one but wider as what you have on now (uses same rotors). VFR or CBR 90+ worky very well. If you can find 90+ VFR forks or 600 F3, or 90 + CBR1KF they have cartridge forks so if you can get them for a cheap price they are worth it all are 41mm and can work, the F3 is 1" shorter but has more adjustments. VFR and 1KF are very close to the same. Hope this helps some.

Hey:

You mean this: Honda wing CBR motorcycle sticker decal emblem ebook | eBay

No code but decals work and look fine.

That's not why I asked hehe, but thanks!
No, I decided to go with my first hunch, and ditch the yellow to go with red... I think sticking with yellow is too impulsive for me, I wanted to ditch the yellow for a reason.
I'd like the powder coat to match the logo on the tank as closely as possible, and would like the text HONDA on the belly pan too, in the same color, I think I'll have to have that made, or was there a Honda with the make in red text on it's belly?
I also want rim striping in that color... I don't look forward to having 4 shades of red on the bike
