Default Tires question?

Hey guys, need some advice. Gonna change both tires on my CBR, there are so many brands out there it's ridiculous. I think I finally narrowed it down to two. Dunlop Sportmax Roadsmart II and Pirelli Diablo Rosso II. Pls let me know what you think. Also if there is another brand that is the general preference for a most of you, let me know.

Hi,

My rear tire is Dunlop Roadsmart II and i am pretty satisfied. I am not some Valentino Rossi wanna be, and i don't lean in every corner to the maximum. For normal driving and touring, Roadsmart II is really good choice.

Michellin PR2/3's are very popular. But it's a very personal choice, so at the end of the day, buy what you want.

New tyres are always better than old though. Enjoy

There are many threads on tire and just as many opinions.

Depends on road conditions and temp's in your area. Do you want sport/touring or a good track tire?

The tires I totally love may be hated by others.

BTW, looks like you have a '94 cane. Same as me.
You can open your selection up a bit by going with the 180/55-17 rear, better prices than the 170.

Are you sure that this size will fit, seems pretty tight on the left side.

I know there's a lot of different tires out there and the Sportmax Roadsmart II was my first choice, but there is only a $10.00 difference with the Diablo Rosso II. So it's not a matter of "what you look like on the bike", but really in the difference or quality of the tire.

Sorry hawkwind, can't watch your video, it is blocked in Canada.

Default CBR1KF tire info

Hey:

If you want to look at some other options Pirelli Angel ST, Avon Storms 2, Conti Road Attack or Motions, or my fav, Shinko Ravens or Verges. All good tires that last and grip, for a fair price. And get them in 180 /55 17 and 120/70 17 (except Angel ST 170/60 17). You will be glad you did.

Default Tire choice

Thanks for all the input guys. I think I'll go with the Pirelli's. Oh! and by the way, just to inform some people in particular, I am not a Valentino Rossi wannabe. First of all because I don't drive a Ducati and secondly because Ducati's ride on Bridgestone tires, not Pirelli's. Just to set the record straight.

If your not looking to drag your knee, the metzeler roadtec z6 is one hell of a good tire. The Shanko Raven 009 is heavier (I run with these) but will last longer. Both work really quite well in the rain and give good lean on wet roads.

I have a '94 and run the 180/55-17 on the rear.
