Anybody elsehere have experience with the Metzeler Roadtec Z6 tires? I seem to be the only one running them.
I've got the the Z6sand I love them [sm=drlove.gif]Over 10k miles and there is still tread left. I had the PilotRoads (not the 2's) and I thought they sucked. No feed back, lack of grip and after 5k they were ready for the trash bin.
I'm getting a set of Pilot Powers installed tomorrow, because I have long trip next week (4 daysandpossibly 1500 miles) so I wanted to make sure I'd have some tread left when I got back. I couldn't get the Z6's until late next week. Every place was out. So Pilot Powers are going on. Mary loves them on her VFR do I'll give them a shot.

The ' are a ghost from the problems we had earlier this year with this and other Forums. Couldn't post for days at a time, posts were lost, certain words caused posts to "bomb out" - very frustrating it was.

" cool '

I run Z6's, I will try something diffrent next time, They seam to last a while, havn't had anything diffrent, the tires on the bike when I brought it were just old and crap.

The bridgestone potenzas on our 06 suzuki swift were crap, GT's replace them and are heaps better, more treed, better grip, they will never wear out. (going to a slightly diffrent size, from weird to standard (175/60 -> 185/55, guessing alittle here) , made a big differance to the price)

My discount is cost + 15% so I'm not looking for another vendor unless it's a last resort, but I do really like Pilots.

Here's a handling/tire question. Right now the bike doesn't want to hold a line on curves so I have to use a good bit of pressure countersteering through the curve. It's so bad that one day my palms were aching and I couldn't figure out why until the next time I rode and figured out I was pushing forward on the inside bar. The tires were a little cupped when I got the bike so I thought maybe it was that. I raised the front tire pressure to 36 psi and that helped a bit. Right now it has a Sportmax Qualifiers.

Another thing is that I finally realized the weight of the bike. I was trying to wrestle it around switchbacks and got tired tired pretty fast. Then I realized I was treating it like my old VF500F so I lightened up. I still wonder if a different front tire will sharpen steering.

So find another vendor!

Tyre pressure and cupping will be the major cause of your front wheel not holding its line, as will worn steering head bearings. Any "clicking" in your steering under braking ?
I run my bike at 38PSI front, 42 rear, (so take yours up a bit -these are the rec solo pressures) and for her weight she's still fairly nimble, but as you said, hauling it through tight twisties can get tiring. Palm pressure can be alleviated by wearing gloves with gel or other palm inserts, or running padded/thicker grips - I wrap tape around my bars (about 4 layers) and then slide the grips over, because I have size XXL hands, and smaller grips make my hands cramp - they help a good deal, and reduce vibration and tingly fingers.
Sportmax qualifiers don't have very good tyre life, so this may be an added factor - they don't generally get more than around 4500 miles, and the fronts generally go well before the rears.
