Tips on buying a Hurricane..?

Hi guys!

Seems like a really nice forum, this! Discovered this forum today, looking forward to
spending some more time in here.. Anyway, here's the thing. I currently ride a 1986
Kawasaki GPZ900R (also known as ZX900 Ninja), and it's really a great bike - but it's
not getting any younger as time goes by..! I think I should sell it soon - while it's still
in good shape and fairly attractive on the market. I've started too look around for the
perfect bike to replace the Kawasaki..

Here are my searching/buying criterias:

- Not older than 1994 model
- Same or better power/weight ratio (compared to the GPZ900R)
- Versatility! Comfy on longer trips (1up/2up), yet sporty and agile on shorter trips
- Economy (purchase price, insurance cost, gas milage, durability/reliability etc)
- Appearance

Since I'm posting this thread in the CBR forum, I guess you don't have to be a rocket
scientist to figure out that the CBR1000F is one of the strongest candidates.. ;)
However, I'd really appreciate if you would share some of your thoughts and experiences
regarding the CBR1000F (preferably 1994 and later models)! Do you think this bike ranks high
on the scoreboard considering my buying criterias? The CBR is only slightly heavier than
my GPZ, but compansates with 20 more stock horsepower. I think my GPZ is fast (enough),
and allthough I'm not into highspeed stunts with the cops on my tail, I really enjoy having that
massive litrebike-torque available anytime, anywhere.. [sm=lildevil.gif]

Other bikes that I am concidering: Kawasaki ZZR1100, Suzuki GSX1100F and Yamaha FJ1200

So, here's your big chance to convert a Kawasaki-heathan, hehe :)

RE: Tips on buying a Hurricane..?

I'm real happy with my CBR 1000 F -92 which was bought as a commuter but now also is used when I drive with a friend who has a new sport bike (GSX R1000 -05). If i drive my own GSR R1000 -03 with him it gets boring since the pace goes below my comfort window, with the CBR I have to rev harder and lean harder to stay ahead, which is great fun:). I've once tried a friends GPZ 1100 -86, it was much softer/unsafe in high speed corners, the engine vibrated heavily at idle and there was no real punch above 200 km/h.

Someone posted a good link in this forum earlier which i bookmarked that can be of interest to you. If I remember correct, the CBR was not best on anything, but selected as the best weekend tourer or something like that.
