tip"the old breather tube is a good way to keep your nuts in place
got a new battery from ebay, checked it and noticed the + post slightly tilted, and the tiniest movement on it.
i filled it with the acid pack, and charged on trickle 300mah overnight.
all sweet so far, so i even checked polarity with a meter before fitting,100%
then as i tightened the bolts,(with a screwdriver i must add,i heard the lightest cracK!
see vid,
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A7jHrJWg9Pw&NR=1
fekin' postie or transit somewhere must have banged it in the first place, for it to be bent.
i emailed the supplier(still waiting a response)
and at 10pm tonight, i went out with a drill to the shed.
fIXed!,,,, but for how long,
... drilled out main hole to compensate for screw head, then drilled fine hole, 3 different depths untill i felt i was deep enough for a tight fit.
tiny drop of lock thread on a SSscrew, and a good tighten.
.,, its git a micro teeney weeney movement, like it came new,but its straight now(the post never came out of the battery, only loose)
... tipped it for a leak test 100% ok
& cut 1mm'ish of the bolt, and a washer for the oversized hole, as the bolt screws down on th SSscrew now,so i had to give it a gap.
. the old breather tube is a good way to keep your nuts in place
.
... i started the engine, wiggled iti'm happy, and took a terminal off again and tested it with a meter for voltage draw/drop.... all sweet.
thing is,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, will it last.????
i recon if i get this summer out of it,,,,,,,, it;ll do.£19.99 and £6.00 postage..
and about £75 anywhere else i looked.

NUMAX,,,, i don't know if they are a world brand mate
the bike is 99 and had the original battey in if from factory
and it was still working ok.
i'd noticed the cells near empty in november and topped it up and charged it..
but i felt it was on its way out,so i decided to replace it.
first thing i done this morning was checj the shed hadn't burned down,,,
pondering on if its secure enough a fix.

That's was no good hey
...your fix might hold , spose the only way to know is try it for a while
If it were me , I would be a bit paranoid about it failing when om in the middle of no where though ??...
BTW - IMO ... flickering the power like that to test it or play with it while the ignition is on is a bit dodgy the electrics are pretty sensitive on these CBRS ....
Like your tube idea! ....those little nuts can be a bitch to hold ...
good luck with it ...

result,,, they emailed me for my number, and got a call half an hour later.
told them i'd made a fix and i could sense him shakin his head in disgust down the phone ,,
he said he'd send me out a new one postage and everything free, not an arguement.
they just told me to remove it and take it to the recycle yard.
amazin result.
i thought i'd be charged for extra postage, but he insisted no.
excellent excellent excellent

i do ,, but its a yamaha bws 50cc
what ya think?
acroprovic race pipe
race piston crank barrel & head
polini race rollers
polini race clutch housing
polini torque pulleys and belts
carb reed kit
derestricted timing unit
plus more stuff i'v forgot about....
its for the youngest son next jan,
it'll fill the clock and a bit,(about 65 - 68)
think the battery may be too big for the hole, but i'll certainly try on a warmer day.
it would be safer crankin a 50 than a 1lt
