Take the time to read this article. It's long, but worth the time.

+1 on this link, very informative. Personally I use Shell Rotella-T and the SuperTech filter from Wally Mart.

4Litres for a 94' with some left over.
change every 5000'km or less
dont run it low or over fill it.
dip stick is messured with out screwing it in
any oil is better than no oil
change the oil filter every time, some people say every second time.

but, you probably know all this. .

I haven't read the article above (I'll do that in a bit). When it comes to oil in a bike I, like so many others will always use the best "motorcycle" oil that we can afford. We all have our preferences but as long as it's oil for a motorcycle not a car you will be ok. Change it regularly too. Due to the high rpm, tight tolerances & the gearbox 5,000Km is more than long enough. Most times when you buy good oil a filter is also included. Use it.
If you change the oil & filter then 3.8 litres should do the job. i.e. one 4 litre container is enough. Hope this helps.

Stay away from oils with friction modifiers in them, such as PTFE. These will wreak havoc on a wet clutch. Most oils with friction modifiers are advertised as "fuel saving" oils, great for cars suck for bikes with wet clutches. Also, it seems that several members report less chain rattling noises when using 20W-50 oil. I'm going to try this next time I change mine.

After you've read it, I'd be interested in what your opinion is. Also check out his oil filter article as well.
