Default Glad you asked

Along those lines, what should I be running for weight? Summer in New England is 70 to 90 degrees. 40K on her now, so a little heavy is ok?

Sorry to jump your post but I was thinking the same thing about synthetics.

When I had synth in my bike (between 80k-90k miles) I would get weeping around the shift rod seal and the countershaft seal (leaving a small puddle on the floor). So I stopped that experiment and went with 15w-40 heavy duty diesel oil.

Thumbs up semi synthetic

From experience I would say dont use semi synthetic. I got clutch slip.

Now running 20/50 sweet.

I now have semi synthetic for running in after top end rebuild & have noticed much smother gear changes than the ol dino 20w40, my mech says to go to full synthetic once run in. I would like to go full synthetic but gee it is expensive (the semi synthetic cost over $70)

damn we're spoiled in the States. I get pissed if a gallon of full synth (which I run on my Element) is over $25

As Steve-o said 10/40 15/40 even 20/50 is fine.

Contrary to what Steve-o said - synthetics are OK , but car oils are NOT.

Put diesel oil in the bike at 15/40 or anything close. Our temps are same as yours, even up to 45C (whatever that is in F) in summer.
