Does anyone know of reasons a complete 1990 swing arm/brake swap to an 1987 would be problematic?

 

Looking at the parts fiche, there are visible differences between the two, which doesn't mean it's not possible, but it does mean you'd need at least the rear brake mount and probably the caliper assembly as well.

If youstill want to go ahead, I would suggest comparing the part numbers for all the relevant parts from the fiche.

The only difference I can see other than part #'s would be the brake setup. What difference are you seeing other than the brakes? The brakes not a problem, I have those parts.

 

will the sprockets line up? arent the wheels wider on the 89 and up? or will you not have to change wheels?

 

Actually Silverf1's post just jogged my memory.

I'm sure this has been done before so that the wider rear wheel/tyre could be fitted. Try doing a search on this forum, you might be able to find it.

Thanks for the help searching. That's exactly what I needed. Using my phone as a computer gets a little tuff after awhile.

 

I do have to say the title of this thread has been a major dissapointment though.
