Surprised

Hi all

I don't know if this happens to you a lot, but it as been a few times that whenI am waiting at a stop light , poepe will roll down their car's window and will say : 'Nice bike !'. Each time I am surprised It is after all an 1988 and poeple will most often look and say this about recent motorcycles !

Also there what we call cafe rencontre in my area wherea bunch of sportbike
enthusiatss will meet on wednesday night in a Tim Horton ( coffee shop) and will talk for a few hours, each time they come looking at the CBR and say it is well preserved , very nice bike , but most poeple whom are ther owns the latest racer.[/align]
I find this enjoyable , Semms the whole lineage of the cbr motorcyce is very repestec as a motorcycle.

Did you have similar experience ?

Although mine has a few scratches people says what a nice bike and when itell themhow old it is (-89) they dont believe it...these guys are often not bikers. Even younger guys ,round twenties, with the latest RR bikes cant guess how old my bike is...well... they were hardly born when my bike was build. ;)

Yes. People often are surprised when I tell them it ia a 20 year old bike.
Especially the time when I did not get outraced by a Yamaha R1 I thought that the CBR still got it. No need to buy any newer bike.

RE: Surprised

I get comments on my '87 pretty often, even though it has a bit of road rash on the right side. I've had my bike since new and remember having people come up to me and say it was the prettiest bike they ever saw when it was brand new. Now I still get comments. No one believes how old it is when I tell them. Non-bikers assume its fairly new and most bikers don't realize its as old as it is.

I am considering replacing my bike(maybe just getting a second bike??) in the next year or so, but, I haven't seen anything that interests me, other than a Blackbird. And money is not a major issue for me. I can afford whatever I want to buy, new or old (within reason - I mean I can buy a Ducati 998 if I found it attractive - but I don't). I ain't rich but I don't have to watch my pennies either. I drive my Hurricane because I love it and haven't seen anything to really tempt me away from it, yet.

My '87 surprises people as well, particularly when they see how well they go. It looks a lot morestylish than the FJ or GPZ of the same era.
When these first came out I was 21 we used to drool over this bike, fastest production bike ever, 0-100kmh in 3 sec, top speed 260km/h.
I was into dirt bikes then. Alas, our young and foolish days, if only I knew.

Dragon 64,

Yeah when I had my 92 Model I would get people coming over to ask about the bike in the street in car parks everywhere, now I have this years Blackbird I bought in June and no one really gives it a second glance, so in a few weeks time shes off to the painters and I am getting it done in Tangerine with a coarse metal flake with Mirrored Silver decals now that should stand out, been thinking of getting the mags chromed as well. I have attached the picture of my 92 1000 F and my Blackbird.

RE: Surprised

True

I have always prefered low growling sound from a motor than a high pitch, it sounds meaner , one of my neighbours had 74 Cuda, and with steep cams, on idle it was bom-bom- bom, man it sounded mean,
it was quite a sound .
