Default Stainless Steel Brake Lines

HI guys!! Man this weather SUX!!!!! The Midwest is the pits this year so far...

Ok back to my main subject:

FTP Inc, in Indy has my brake lines and is looking to make a Stainless Steel Set for me. Cost is supposed to be reasonable, so... is anybody else interested?

Just trying to get a feel so that I can let the guy know if there more people interested. Its been tough to impossible to find SS brake lines and that are reasonably priced. One company looked at my brakes and quoted me $600-800 due to the LBS. FTP says they can do it forless... but I'mnot sure how much less.. waiting to hear.

Let me know if anybody is interested?

Thanks guys. rubber side down.

I don’t know how much gain you will get with all that break line still running all over the bike. I went with HEL SS lines for $240US. It helped because I de-linked and now only have one SS line to each caliper.

There are companies on www.e-Bay.UK that will supply s/steel lines for brake and clutch for $140 US + postage, for a full set, and you can choose your colour ! I think the prices you were quoted are way too high IMHO.

Hey Timbuc. You r right in your post. I still love the feeling of LBS. Very controlled stable. My past bikes werent linked, and it does make a huge difference. For right now, Ill stick with LBS. Hopefully this company can do it for me for a good price.

Shadow, double check the numbers. I'm pretty sure after doing some research, those brake lines are for non LBS/CBS or pre 92's. Most companies wont even due a kit for LBS or ABS due to the complications of how many lines there are.

Default Try Spiegler or Galfer

I have a new set of front ss linesfrom Speigler sitting on a shelf in the garage waiting for installation. Cost for fronts was about $100-150 (can't remember exaclty) but way below what you were quoted. I beleive they have them for linked brakes too. My 1990 does not have linked brakes.

He won’t be able to use yours. I used 1990 when I de-linked. The linked bikes have one down line up front and two steel lines that cross over the front mud guard.

The rear uses two big rubber garden hoses that hook up to other lines instead of just one short line that runs directly from the master cylinder to the caliper.

When I de-linked, I bet I pulled about8-10 pounds of lines and brackets off the bike.
Proportional valve, secondary master cylinder, big rear and front rubber hoses, brackets and steel lines that ran the length of the bike and over the front fender

Now I have two small SS drop lines to each front caliper and one line at the rear.

The bike stops much, much better but is still lacking from what is out there today.

Stealth bikes are selling this kit on www.e-Bay.UK

This auction is for one three line kit comprised of 2 front lines and 1 rear line to fit any modern bike
price: £49.99

This equates to, what, 100 $ US ? I'm sure if you asked them, they'd make up a set of rear hoses for the DCBS, but I wouldn't fit stainless to the rear brakes, my friend did, and removed them because they were too sharp, and as we know the rear on a CBR skids for very little....
