Squeak in front end

For a couple weeks now I've been hearing a squeak coming from the front of my bike. If you know what a bearing sounds like when it's going bad, it's that type of squeak (doesn't take long for it to get annoying)

I'm familiar with the sound so my first thought was the front wheel bearings were going bad, ordered a new set, installed them 5 days ago, still have the squeak.

My next guess would possibly be the steering stem bearings, but I'm not certain. As I'm going down the road I can hear it, jump on the gas and it can be heard a little better, let off the gas and it goes away.

Thought that it might be something internal in the engine but just sitting there at idle and when jumping up the rpms steadily or suddenly I hear nothing so that eliminated that thought from my mind, but I'm still not sure if it would be the steering stem bearings or if maybe that it's something in the forks.

Handling hasn't changed at all, going into a corner, in a corner, exiting a corner, and then transitioning into another corner it still feels as stable and confident as the day I got her.

have you tried pumping the forks up and down whilst stationary to see if it is the forks(bushes), whilst stationary try the steering head bearings, if that fails block up the bike so you can spin the front wheel to see if you can pinpoint the squeak) could be the speedo drive needs greasing :icon_wink:

That's odd. What happens if you slightly pull the front brake lever? I wonder if the front pads are squeaking.

With bike on center stand and in gear, check speedo cable for squeak maybe.

I'd be going with TBT's idea - brakes pads binding

well I know it's not the speedo cable as I have no speedo cable haha, the aftermarket instrument cluster I have uses the magnet sensor setup. I'll have to wait till in the morning to try everything, I work 3rd shift so I've been asleep all day but I'll try it out and see what results I get

And thanks guys for the quick responses
