The older bikes are 17/43 while the newer ones are 17/42. Many owners of the older ones drop to the 42 in the rear to get a 500 RPM drop at highway speeds. This of course will not effect the spedo on the older bikes as they are front wheel driven.

I went to this web site and input-ed our bike. The third calculator from the bottom says that there is only a 96 RPM drop going form 43 to 42 teeth on the rear, at 65 mph. Then I looked at the top (traffic light thing) and it shows 114 links for both sprocket sizes. Anyway, that web page just about made my nose bleed. I had to get out of there.

Yeah, that site takes some getting used to. I've played with it a bit, and it really is a good program but some have reported the wrong stock tooth count on a couple bikes and if I remember correctly it won't tell you chain lengths. You can figure it out based on inch movement of the rear wheel, tho, depending on the chain length input. I think.

just got my kit yesterday,,,
i'll fit it over the winter as i want to pull out my swing arm and get it powder coated in red to match the bike.
