Someone mangled my lock - replacements?

Hi,

Today two guys tried to steal my beloved CBR1000f in broad daylight on a very busy street. There were many witnesses, but it was only until another biker came along and shoved them away (which was difficult) that they gave up (after harassing the biker).

Can you even steal a bike this way?

How bad am I ****ed? I live in Denmark, it's a small country; I called around and they said that such locks are hard to come by (they didn't have any): I would have to call around local shops in the other end of country etc. I figure, in worst case, I can find one in Germany?

Can you people help me out on identifying what kind of replacement locks I can use on this model? Original or otherwise. I believe it's a SC21 but it has been rebuild completely using parts from a 1999 model (it looks 1999 bodywork wise) - I don't know if this is a factor?

I got this number, but I don't know if it fits 35100-Ms2-602 my bike.

Need to see the plug end really. Once you have that your best bets prob eBay and just search n match.
Price used £18 min to £50 max for a “pretty” one.
Possibly too strong for some but, I’d also like to add that I would happily watch a bike thief ..................... sorry had to undo, it wasn’t humane. Having had 3 expensive bikes stolen from me in the past entitles me to enjoy this thought and not repulse at the idea.
Sorry for that.

Start with internet search for year and bike model. I bet you get a few hits.
Here take your pick:

The problem you're going to have is unless you get both a fuel cap, and a helmet lock - you're going to end up with two keys.

My advice would be to get a new ignition lock set from Ebay. Takes around 30min to fit - though you need to use a dremel or cutting disk to put a grove into the security bolt before you can undo it.

Lock sets often appear on eBay and they are interchangable between all the years.

Here's the parts list for a 1999 - 35100-MZ2-611

And a 1996 -35100-MZ2-611

Another note is - the lock set looks exactly like a vfr750 one to me, of which more are available - they are different part numbers but who knows? Maybe the barrel is the same..

And, to add a further note - I just checked my parts bin and I have a spare barrel and also helmet lock, with matching keys - you can have it for the cost of shipping - the only problem is, I'm in Hawaii. I don't have a matching fuel tank lock though.

If you get a new barrel it should also be possible to re-key if needed. I had an FZR with no key and a locksmith was able to duplicate a set. Cost about half an hour of labour

The newer bikes have countermeasures to prevent this, but to my knowledge none on the hurricane

FYI, you can get a security star bit set from eBay for really cheap. It's a bitch to get in there with a Dremel.

Motor bike thieves need a 4x2 to the back of the head,...... several times. Good Samaritans saved the day, it could have been much worse.

+1 on Ebay for spares,
