I have an 88' 1000F and I am trying to get some help with some ideas. I was trying to see if i can to a bigger rear from the stock size of a 150. Can I put the swingarm off a 91-94 possibly with little mod work to go a 170 or 180 possibly? I've seen a couple locally where i lvie, but the guys won't say what they did outside of cutting a notch in the chain guard to clear the 180s width.

Also, am having a hard time finding the stock exhaust system for my cane. Outside of buying from Honda, which is expensive, any ideas on a good place to find the stock cans and pipes?

Thanks all! Been working on some electrical problems on mine all winter and the idea came up when a friend with a 2008 (wants to choke his longtime friend for bragging) asked why my rear tire was so damn small :P

 

i have no idea about the swingarm or tire size. as for finding arts for these bikes, search ebay and craigslist.org everyday and be patient

 

Stock Honda exhaust items will be real expensive , down pipes are better stainless steel , both new and second hand can be found on e-bay . It may take a while to find second hand , but they do come up. You can get Nexxus end cans , nice and shiney , all this stuff is about half the price of Honda gear and will last longer.

As for the rear wheel swap I'm sure there was a question about this a couple weeks back , do a search see what you can find

 

I went to a 160 on my '87 and I'm happy with that. Any larger and you need to swap out the swingarm and there may be some additional mods required. It will also change your steering geometry.

There are several threads about doing this to 87-88's. I side with those that think that if you want a real fat back tire, buy a newer sport bike. However, there are those that have done this and they were happy with the results.

 

Hi did this my self and posted the recipy to do it, it takes a maximun of two hours once you have all the parts need.

Also you can use a rear whell fendre from a 1989 and up because your wheel hugger won,t fit anymore.
