So the repair shop trailer arrives....
Off to The Motorcycle Center for some love..
* Fork seals
* Michelins
* All fluids changed
* Full tune up
* Carb sync
Just all regular stuff... The lead mechanic and the front of house guy told me this maybe the nicest 'Cane they've had in and that the prior owner loved this bike from day 1. Now lets hope they don't find anything funny... Keepen the fingers crossed....
The thing I did not know was that this was the first 1 liter "super rocket" as they called it...

Shoot I'm with ya there Bordo I'd be 500 less Bank having all that done in a
shop - forks I can understand - they could be intimidating if you have not
done them before ( a breeze tho once you do) the rest expensive enough in
parts as it is - labor just doubles it !
BUT
Time is money for a lot of people with the kind of working lives we are
enslaved to these days - so I get the "don't have the time - need it done
asap routine too"

Yes I could do it myself but heres why I didnt
Fork seals and tires I was not going to attempt,, The other stuff
* The bike sat for a while and its a 25 year old bike - and I was not gonna trust my life to my amature opinion as to what was safe and what needed to be done. The prior owner said the chain was fairly new and it looked it. Bottom line he used the old sprockets and the chain was torn up. I didnt see it until they showed me.. Worth the money for peace of mind
* I also own my own business and I work a lot of hours incl weekends. The extra 200.00 for labor on the easy stuff, it bought me a day in the wind...
The saftey stuff and expert eval of an older bike were paramount

I would do it myself but I fall under the category of just not ever having enough time... Commuting 45 min to work one way doesn't help... My mechanic does great deals though 125$ for new Pilot Pro 3 front tire, and installation... With tire on the bike I ride in he does all the work I ride out

Ive restored Corvettes to best of show winners... Got 2 on the market.. I have the tools, hands, and space - just not the time When ya work 70 hrs a week owning yer own biz, it aint easy.... Just sayin.. lol.. I'd rather be ridin
Just a show of hands for shade tree mechanics - You just bought a 25 year old bike capable of 150mph. You didnt know the bike or the seller. The bike sat for 2 years.. Are you trusting your skills as a non-professional? OR are you having it checked out top to bottom? Funny, no hands went up to do it yourself ..
