Silly question, probably, but have to ask
hello all, introed myself a few weeks back, new here and very new to bikes in general. have a classic mini with a UK version 1990 1000cbr in it. questions:
what is the shift pattern onthis model? 1 down 4up? 1 up 4 down? it is a 5 and not a 6 speed? after getting to first and starting out is it required to depress the clutch with every shift or is this not needed?
little more background, i bought this car as an abandoned project and have been working it for 1.5 years and just now have it running and road ready. i know very little about bikes but i do know minis. thanks for any answers. jim

smart
I saw a smart car awhile back on youtube that had a hyabusa motor in it....WOW is all I can say...that thing would do donuts like no other...I bet a mini with a cbr motor would do similar...interesting project...got any pics of it?
yes 1 down, 5 up, please use a clutch in all gears unless you would like to make an etch-a-sketch with the shavings you will have left.

thanks for the replies, have not had it up to high enough speed to yet to get to 5th or 6th, planning on using this car for track days, autox and hillclimbs, i will get some pixs to post here. yes using bike engines in minis has been the rage for a couple years now overseas, most use hayabusa's or the R1, the fellow in the Uk that started mine had decent reasons for using this motor so i thought i would keep it, it has been a fun project so far, to see more of them check out zcars.org.uk they are the originators.
