Default She's got to go

Well, after 12 months of easy starting and terrific performance with 100% reliability It's time for my '89 F-K to find a new home. Why? because I've bought a newer one!

Here is my new ride, 1998, 3600 miles, sat in a shed for the last 7 years or so.

Now, how does that linked braking system work?!

Cheers,

Rob

Nice mate - very low miles too!

Linked braking system is fine - as long as it works ok......i had big problems with the linked brakes on my '95 so in the end
it was more cost-effective for me to have them delinked with braided hoses than renew the component that failed.

Good luck with it!

Cheers,Rob

Thanks Rob,

I have not got her ready for the road yet, so only had a short run around the block just to make sure everything was moving freely, but plenty of time to see how those brakes work!

It's got Michelin A59/M59 tyres on it, not my choice but there is plenty of meat on them so I will leave them on and see how they go, the reviews for them seem pretty good.

Apart from that my only other concern is the Datatool imobiliser, it's the one with the little touch fob and the guy has lost the other one so have to see about buying a new one.

Cheers,

Rob

Let us know what differentes you find between the bikes, I guess they should be about the same, except for the brakes

Hi Karlo,

It's an FV according to the documentation I have, but I don't have the V5 yet so it could be earlier.

Thanks for the compliments, I think it's a beauty!

I can't take it out yet because it's not taxed or MOT'd, but when I do I will report back in a new thread.

Rob, there should be a sticker on the frame under the seat left side of the bike as you sit on it with model identification on.

Hi Karlo,

I had seen the sticker but not noticed that it said FV! It was sold new in 1998 so thats that little mystery sorted.

I'm itching to get out on it, As soon as I get the MOT and Tax on it then I might have to think about selling the FK, I've half persuaded the wife to keep both so that's an option.

Cheers,

Rob
