seat removal

Pull up on the seat edge just enough to fit a small/narrow screwdriver or similar tool in there to push the release toward the back of the bike. The release is #12 on this linked image and is set roughly 4" or so back from the edge of the seat, parallel to the keyhole:

I had to do that once myself.
Its best to go in from the left side using some rags on the grab rail so that you don't mar it up. Three hands would help, 1-to pry the saddle up, 1-to manipulate the long screwdriver and one to hold some lighting in there. Push the lever towards the rare of the bike releasing some pressure on the saddle so that the saddle will release.

Same deal for me, I hooked a shoelace up to the pull mechanism and ran it out the back under the seat to the gearsack rack. Now I just pull that to unlatch the seat, until I get time to replace the mechanism.
Cheers, SB
