Saggy Rear

Saggy Rear
I was going to adjust the rear shock as the bike is a bit wallowy through bumpy bends and I hoped to improve the ride/handling.
It would appear I have a non-original rear shock as I can't find the normal adjusting controls , have a look at the picture slide-show below

The first three pictures are of the shock that is on the bike , sorry but can't get the camera in a good angle so only really the top part of the shock in frame. The word at the top say's GAS.
The last three pictures are of a second hand shock I bought off e-bay a while ago this I think is the standard item with the adjustment controls and looks to be in much better condition than the one that is on the bike at the moment and is made by Showa.
What do you think does it just need adjusting with the two adjusting rings at the top or would it be better to change it for the one off e-bay?

Yup Hawk, a special hook spanner/tool is usually used on all those types of shocks mate..
If you have not got one you might try to borrow or buy one from your local honda shop... They are dirt cheap..and come with many other honda tool kits.. I must have half a dozen kicking around in my garage from earlier hondas that I have owned..
As a last resort , you can try tapping the top ring ( with a long FLAT headed punch or similar), anti clockwise to loosen it , then try to tap the lower one clockwise to increase the pre load on the spring..
It is near impossible to tell if the one in your bike is better than the stock one mate , but I will say, the stock one is way easier to adjust

Thanks guys , I was going to whip the swingarm off at some point anyway to re-paint it so I may put the stock damper on there anyway 'cos it looks in better condition and for ease of adjustment .
I dont have the tool needed to adjust the present shock and to be quite honest I have no idea how you would gain enough access to get at it anyway! It's a bit cramped in there!!
